30 second love!

I made these cute little boogers for Valentines Day for my Sunday school class, back in Chicago. I know I'm a little (OK...a LOT) late, but the colors could easily be changed and the same concept could be applied to almost ANY holiday or occasion!

These are what I like to call the "30 second Valentine." Literally, from start to finish, it took me 30 seconds, and the kids just went crazy for them! Imagine how cute they would be with different candies and ribbons for Christmas, Easter, St. Patrick's day, baby showers, soccer parties, or any other event you could think of!!

I got these little 12 ounce sport bottle containers at Walmart for $1.44/each (They had blue, purple and pink as well,), but I am sure that with a little more shopping around, you could probably find something at the dollar store a little cheaper...or even try online stores like Oriental trading.

I washed and dried the containers, filled them with Valentines M&Ms (use anything...jelly beans, skittles, chocolates, trail mix, goldfish, etc!) and tied some coordinating ribbons around the top.
I added a "Happy Valentines Day!" tag after I took the pictures.

So cute, So easy, and SOOO quick!

And y'all KNOW me...I LOVE a reusable container! Who doesn't love an extra little water bottle for their littles? Hate throwing away all those stupid plastic goody bags!

Currently...

...wishing my "baby" sister, Hannah, a happy 23rd birthday! A college grad, and a beautiful, intelligent, amazing, woman...seems like she just turned 5 to me!

...wishing the best for one of my oldest friends, Katie, as she married her best friend and the father of her sweet Avery today!

...very excited about the Olympics, although Momma usually has an unhealthy obsession with them and will be glued to the TV for the next 17 days, ha ha :)

...obsessed with sugar skulls for some reason. Just asked Michelle to make me a sugar skull bag with some super cute fabric I found.

...fighting the first migraine that I have had in 4 months. Especially after last year, where I was having 2-3 per week, I guess I should not complain, but still not feeling very good. Boo.

...listening to my 15 pound Dachshund snore like a grown man.

...stressing about my divorce being finalized soon. I just want it to be over so that  I can move on with life.

...planning on making some super cute headbands that I saw on pinterest this weekend, out of old t shirts. We will see how motivated I actually am!

...excited about taking Hannah to the flea market tomorrow as her birthday "present," and buying her whatever her heart desires (within reason!!)

...loving Philip Philip's song, "Home"

....wishing sleep came easier. Goodnight y'all

Chocoholic

All people have a weakness. It's a fact, there is no way around it. I happen to work for a cardiologist, and a good one at that. He is an example to his patients in that he stays in shape, he doesn't smoke or drink, he exercises. But what they don't know (well, some of them do) is that Dr. R is a chocoholic!!!

It's true. When I started working there, the girls told me that if we kept chocolate out on the break room table, we would never have any problems! He is a great boss, and he takes amazing care of our patients, so hey, the man deserves some chocolate every once and a while...but that doesn't come without us making fun of him a little bit!

As usual, I wanted to do a homemade birthday gift. I looked around on pinterest and found some cute chocolate gift basket ideas, but most of them were just too girly. Then I found I found this idea, and it was perfect!

First of all, boo for cell phone pics!

I started with an 8x8 shadowbox frame from Michael's. (you know I used my 40% coupon, so that made it about $4)
Then I put a piece of white card stock in the pack of it and hot glued the Hershey bar into the back and let it set.
Then I just bought some cheap letter stickers from Target and put the words on. I originally wanted to do nicer letters in red, with my cricut...but I just ran out of time and my cricut is buried somewhere in the garage from my move...and the only person who noticed that I didn't use die cut letters and not stickers was me, so who cares, right??

Anyway...SO cute, super easy, tons of compliments, and cheap!! You can do it! It is now hanging in our office, to bring a smile to all of out cute little cardio patients!

*How cute would this be with a mini bottle of wine or liquor? Or for a baby shower with a binkie? or anything else? The possibilities are endless. Comment and tell me what you would put in it!

The Jax

I can't believe he is SEVEN weeks old already! Part of me feels like he has been here forever, while the other part feels like he JUST got here! I think the real crime here is that it took me 7 weeks to post a picture of this sweet little face! So, without further ado:

Virginia Beach

Sometimes, a spur of the moment beach trip is just what your soul needs to unwind, relax, and recharge...I know that is EXACTLY what I needed last week.

My parents and sisters and I had a massive yard sale on Saturday morning, and then after that, my very favorite road tripper, Chris, and I were outta here! He drove, I drank sweet tea and nodded off a few times...life was good :)

We hit a little bit of traffic but were able to get down there around 6pm and walk around on the beach and enjoy the last bit of sunlight before heading to dinner. Then we eye balled all the silly t-shirts, shot glasses, henna tattoos, and hermit crab cages that line the stores of the board walk on Atlantic Avenue until we got tired and headed back to the hotel to pass out.

We had some awesome pancakes and then went looking for something to do until the air show started. I had been to the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center when I was a kid, with my family and loved it. I went again when I was down there for "beach week," the week after I graduated high school...but the $21 entrance fee was a little steep for us back then, so we just watched the seals in the big tank outside and went on with our bad selves. This time, however...it was game on!

Chris and I walked and around and I was in total awe at how much the place had changed in 10 years. There were so many amazing exhibits and things to see! We were there for hours! It turned out to be the highlight of our trip! Here are a few pics, but seriously, they don't even do the place justice!

Oh, and check out my new, purple shoes! There was an incident with my flip flops rubbing a HUGE blister on my foot, so we went to 17th street surf shop,  where I was able to score these sweet purple vans from the little boys section for a ridiculous price!

After that it was back to the beach to watch the air show. We managed to get there JUST in time to see the Blue Angels. I'll admit it, I was exactly thrilled to see airplanes fly around...but let me tell you, it was AMAZING! The tricks that they were doing were UNREAL!! People could have died with just a tiny slip up by any of those pilots! It was actually very cool, I'm not going to lie! I will definitely be going to see another air show if the opportunity comes up.
