Resoloutions...

This time of year is always a little nuts for me. I work for an already busy cardiologist, but when people decide that they want to make and follow through with New Year's Resolutions, they usually involve taking care of one's self and for a lot of people that involves:

1. Working out, which may require cardiac clearance if they have a previous cardiac problem

2. Working out, which they can't handle, so they end up causing a NEW cardiac problem

3. Going to the doctor for a "check up," which they haven't had since last January, so now their cholesterol is out of control, none of their medications are up to date, and they need all of their annual testing...and they want it all done. Now.

4. They got new insurance as of 1/1, or they are now 65 and so they can now go to the doctor, and come in and be pushy and demanding about needing testing, lab work, prescriptions, etc all done. Now.

I love my job, and love my patients even more...but these obnoxious, once a year people get on my damn nerves!! They are like the people who only go to Church on Christmas and call themselves Christians, or the ones that donate $25 to the SPCA or another charity once every five years and want a big pat on the back. UGH.

Anyway, what are your resolutions? Stay tuned for Oscar and I's goals and resolutions for 2013, and our best and worst moments of 2012!

So what!

So I've recently discovered Shannon, over at Life after I "Dew," at the recommendation of my friend, Kate...and she cracks me up. I know that I usually do Weiner dogs on Wednesdays, but I thought I would switch it up and do "So what Wednesday," along with Shannon today!
So, without further ado.
SO WHAT if...

[I don't get into The Voice, American Idol, Dancing with the stars, Survivor]
[The only reason I get up and go to work every morning is because of my patients, I love them. Well, most of them]
[I have a huge tattoo on my back, its not your back, so get over it]
[I do the bare minimum of laundry required to get me through each week, so the pile keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger. I hate laundry]
[I ate pop tarts for dinner tonight]
[I picked at Jackson's cradle cap the other day, I know you aren't supposed to...but I did, I had to, I couldn't help myself]
[I didn't really like 50 shades of Gray...I think Christian Gray is an asshole and a control freak]
[My biological clock, so to speak, ticks so loud sometimes and sometimes I feel like I could wait another 10 years or so to have a kid!]
[Sometimes I tell my patients that they can't talk during their testing...which is not true, but I just don't want to listen to them]
[I work 4 days a week and it exhausts me, 4 days on my feet, busting my ass...but its still only 4 days...]
[I have more underwear and socks than any human being need...this keeps me from having to do laundry too often (see above)]
[My best friend is a guy, he is married and has 3 kids. We often hang out with the kids, and without his wife, and people love spreading rumors, I find it hilarious]
[I can't wait for snow]
[I'm happiest with a paintbrush, marker, or needle and thread in my hand]
[I'd rather hang out with Oscar than a lot of people I know]
[I don't like sushi, and I'm never going to]
[I'm terrified of the dentist]
[I have a mad crush on our FedEx delivery guy]
Thats it for now. So what!

Chocoholic

All people have a weakness. It's a fact, there is no way around it. I happen to work for a cardiologist, and a good one at that. He is an example to his patients in that he stays in shape, he doesn't smoke or drink, he exercises. But what they don't know (well, some of them do) is that Dr. R is a chocoholic!!!

It's true. When I started working there, the girls told me that if we kept chocolate out on the break room table, we would never have any problems! He is a great boss, and he takes amazing care of our patients, so hey, the man deserves some chocolate every once and a while...but that doesn't come without us making fun of him a little bit!

As usual, I wanted to do a homemade birthday gift. I looked around on pinterest and found some cute chocolate gift basket ideas, but most of them were just too girly. Then I found I found this idea, and it was perfect!

First of all, boo for cell phone pics!

I started with an 8x8 shadowbox frame from Michael's. (you know I used my 40% coupon, so that made it about $4)
Then I put a piece of white card stock in the pack of it and hot glued the Hershey bar into the back and let it set.
Then I just bought some cheap letter stickers from Target and put the words on. I originally wanted to do nicer letters in red, with my cricut...but I just ran out of time and my cricut is buried somewhere in the garage from my move...and the only person who noticed that I didn't use die cut letters and not stickers was me, so who cares, right??

Anyway...SO cute, super easy, tons of compliments, and cheap!! You can do it! It is now hanging in our office, to bring a smile to all of out cute little cardio patients!

*How cute would this be with a mini bottle of wine or liquor? Or for a baby shower with a binkie? or anything else? The possibilities are endless. Comment and tell me what you would put in it!

Updates Updates Updates!

It's been a few weeks...my bad.

My new job is going really well so far. I like the girls I work with, and the doctor is very knowledgeable, willing to teach, and has a sense of humor..which ALWAYS helps!! It is a LOT slower than CCI, but in a way, that is good. They are just now transitioning to electronic medical records, so it is good to be slower during that, than to be slammed like we were up there! I think that this doctor has some big dreams and with the right staff we could be right up there with some of the larger groups in the area within a few years!

Oscar is doing well. He has taken to lots of crying and whining when I am not home, which my parents are sister LOVE...not really sure what to do about that, but open to ANY suggestions! What can I say, my boy LOVES his momma!

Another thing that I can FINALLY get out there in the open is that one of my very best friends, Matt, and his girlfriend (soon to be wifey...next weekend) are expecting a baby boy on May 5! I've known for a long time, but due to some issues with his divorce and some other nonsense, I've had to keep it to myself. I am SOO excited for Aron and Jason to have a baby brother, and I can't wait to meet baby Komar #3!

Here is a little question for all of you out there in bloggy land...how soon after a separation is it OK to start seeing someone else? Don't get any crazy ideas...just a question! It's hard, because you are not technically single, but in my heart, my marriage was over a LONG time ago...so what is the right answer? Any thoughts?

I wish I had pictures to share today, but sadly not even Oscar has been willing to sit in front of the camera! Maybe next week :)

Happy Monday!

Got that J-O-B!

It's true...I got a job, and one that I feel I am just PERFECT for, so I can't wait to start and see where this new adventure brings me!

I was pretty OK with the fact that I probably was not going to find something for a cardiologist, since that is such a specialized field, and I was also aware that since I am in the health care field, that I was probably going to have to start working weekends, so when I was offered a full time position, in a cardiologists office, with benefits, and no weekends...you can imagine me picking my jaw up off of the floor!

There are several other advantages too, like it being literally across the street from the nephews school, about 20 minutes from the house that I would like to rent, and it being attached to a hospital, which means that my dad ,the funeral director, may get to pop in from time to time when he is  there for um, business, yes...business =) ha ha.

All that being said, I REALLY miss my old job, and I realized that I will start my new job on March 26th, which is the EXACT date 3 years ago that I started with Chicago Cardiology Institute...man, I miss you guys!!! Here are a few pictures that I managed to get in on my very busy last day!
