Happy Birthday to my favorite Twilight fan...

Happy Birthday, Erin! (Belated...I'm a day late!)

My "little" sister, the only "friend" I've had for as long as I can remember. Since I was 20 months old.

We have fought, loved, smiled, cried, hugged, hated, supported, let down, encouraged and laughed at each other over the last 27 years...and I can't thank you enough for all of those memories.

My little sister suffers more in a day, than most people do in a lifetime. She has severe chronic myofascial pain, Asperger's syndrome and depression. I cannot even imagine a day in her shoes. I admire her for keeping up her constant battle.

Part of the Asperger's thing is being mildly OCD about certain things. She tends to "latch on" to some thing, whether it be a book, movie, etc and obsess about it for a long time. For a while it was The Lord of the Rings, and then Sci Fi romance novels, or witches and the show "Charmed," and then  Harry Potter.

Well, these days (and for quite some time!) it has been the Twilight series. I think obsession is honestly putting it lightly. She has read all the books and seen all of the movies several times. she reads about the cast and characters online, reads all of these "alternate endings," online, etc.

She is very much "Team Jacob," (Hannah and I are Team Edward, just for funsies! lol) and has been into Werewolf things, and Native Americans as Jacob is from a Native American Werewolf tribe. Sooo...when I stumbled across this wolf hat/scarf/mittens combo...I just HAD to have it for her!!!

So perfect! Happy Birthday, E!

Happy Bloggy Birthday to me!

Happy Birthday to my blog! I've officially been blogging for 2 years now! Hard to believe how many things have changed in that 2 years, I can't even imagine what my life was like then anymore.

I'm not feeling all that great today, so I'm planning on catching up later in the weekend, but until then...stay safe and enjoy the first weekend of 2013 =)

It's our half birthday!

It's true! I've been blogging at Just Whem and Osc for about 6 months now! Some of you may or may not remember that this is NOT my first blog. I started blogging about 2 years ago, at my Rosenbergh Fam blog, but because I left my husband (and for good reason!)

Because I was soon to be no longer a Rosenbergh, and we were no longer a "fam," I started this. Just a crafty/personal little blog about me (Whem,) and my dog (Osc.)

All that said, I DID have some wicked awesome projects over at Rosenberghfam.blogspot.com, and since it's been so long, I'd like to post some of my faves for you all to see!!

1. Congrats Mike and Mandy. Hand painted and decorated rocking horse for a co worker's baby shower. This was such an awesome project, and my ex and I did it together (note:this is an OLD post, we were still getting along! ha ha) so this is something you and your hubs or a girlfriend can do together and the baby-to-be can keep for YEARS to come!

2. Reduce.Reuse.Recycle Thrift store bowl and candle stick upcycle! This was so easy, but looked so elegant as a candy dish in my office at work! These types of items are ALWAYS very easy to find in thrift stores, Goodwills, yard sales, etc...I've made several more since then. Don't always go with the shiny black either...I've made some in turquoise and watermelon and bright yellow. Go for it!!

3. My homemade granola. I've tried a lot of recipes, this one is simple the best, hands down. I REALLY like to put dried cherries in it, and then put it in vanilla yogurt. I used to make a HUGE mason jar full of it, then bring in a big thing of yogurt and my manager at Chicago Cardiology and I would eat it everyday for breakfast. Man, I miss that place...the job, not Chicago...just to be clear :)

4. 40 sucks gift/craft This is really cute, I've done it for a lot of people, and I've done it for 30th, 40th, 50th etc birthdays. Also I've done "Cancer Sucks," for a friend's little boy who was in the hospital getting chemo, and "Retirement sucks," for a friend who had a forced retirement due to a back injury. Take the idea and run with it! I used a clear paint bucket. But you could use any container really!

5. Iris folded birthday gift Made this little beauty for my Momma for her birthday. Iris folding is so easy, but it looks SO amazing. Put it in a frame and you have yourself a masterpiece!

6. Monogram wedding guest book This was a last minute "guest" book that a co-worker asked me to make. She and her boyfriend threw together a quick wedding for various reasons, and I had told her my feelings on traditional guestbooks (hate them, they just collect dust and go in the closet, never to be seen again!) so I cam up with this! I ended up selling 3 more to people who had seen the one at her wedding!

7. Scrappy flower hair clips. I made about a thousand of these (OK, maybe only 100) for a craft show at the church. They were all made of scraps or upcycled jeans or clothing. They are really cute, and I also hot glued some onto pens that us girls at work LOVED. I had to take some pictures, and I didn't have anyone to model them, poor Lyla girl!

8. Bleach pen tees have long been a go to craft for me! I have done them with the nephews, for gifts, with friends, etc! I just LOVE how they turn out, and you can get colored T shirts at Goodwill or Salvation Army for 99 cents, and who cares, you are bleaching it anyway, right? So that makes this a really cute, cheap, and easy craft!

9. Coupon organizer speaks for itself! And its just so darn cute!

10. Cheesy pumpkin! I just love this guy! So funny and so cute!

So, there you have it, my top 10 favorite projects from my former blog! Hope you enjoy them!
Have a great week, everyone!

Chocoholic

All people have a weakness. It's a fact, there is no way around it. I happen to work for a cardiologist, and a good one at that. He is an example to his patients in that he stays in shape, he doesn't smoke or drink, he exercises. But what they don't know (well, some of them do) is that Dr. R is a chocoholic!!!

It's true. When I started working there, the girls told me that if we kept chocolate out on the break room table, we would never have any problems! He is a great boss, and he takes amazing care of our patients, so hey, the man deserves some chocolate every once and a while...but that doesn't come without us making fun of him a little bit!

As usual, I wanted to do a homemade birthday gift. I looked around on pinterest and found some cute chocolate gift basket ideas, but most of them were just too girly. Then I found I found this idea, and it was perfect!

First of all, boo for cell phone pics!

I started with an 8x8 shadowbox frame from Michael's. (you know I used my 40% coupon, so that made it about $4)
Then I put a piece of white card stock in the pack of it and hot glued the Hershey bar into the back and let it set.
Then I just bought some cheap letter stickers from Target and put the words on. I originally wanted to do nicer letters in red, with my cricut...but I just ran out of time and my cricut is buried somewhere in the garage from my move...and the only person who noticed that I didn't use die cut letters and not stickers was me, so who cares, right??

Anyway...SO cute, super easy, tons of compliments, and cheap!! You can do it! It is now hanging in our office, to bring a smile to all of out cute little cardio patients!

*How cute would this be with a mini bottle of wine or liquor? Or for a baby shower with a binkie? or anything else? The possibilities are endless. Comment and tell me what you would put in it!

Congratulations and Catching up!

So here we are again, another month and a half has come and gone without a blog post. This is becoming a theme around here, and not one that I am proud of, but I think I MAY have solved it today!

Most of the problem has been the lack of a computer to post from...when I left Chicago, I took our laptop but there was some insanity and I couldn't take it anymore...so I was the bigger person and sent it back. Well folks, computers, like money, do not grow on trees...and I have not been able to afford one. I still can't. What I DID find today was a kickASS deal on an Android netbook...so here we are :)

In the last 45 days:
I have moved from a temporary room, back into a more permanent and comfortable situation in my old  childhood room...its not half bad. Oscar likes it too.

I have gotten my 5th paycheck at work, which means I have been there fora little over ten weeks. I've re-certified all of my necessary courses, and I'm still digging it!

I turned 28 on May 4th....and the verdict is still out on how I feel about it. I have started sleeping less than 4 hours per night :(

My best good friend, Matt and his wife, Gioia gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Jackson!!! While they were at the hospital I surprised myself by caring for their 8 and 6 year olds for 3 days, alone...and doing a damn good job! And last night cared for, baby Jax from 9pm to 4am to give his poor Momma break!

 Went on a real date

Watched my BABY sister graduate from college, and helped my parents throw her a pretty sweet par-tay! (more on that later)

Probably more sweet stuff I cant remember right now :)

And so my friends...now that I have my computer problem fixed, I'm going to TRY not to go another 45 days without blogging and FINALLY try and get around to blogging all of the kick ass projects that I have been working on, including all of the decorations and awesomeness that was Hannah's grad party!

Whoa!

Whoa is right...I drooled on myself a little when I saw this picture. I just found this chocolate Whopper cake on pintrest and I cannot WAIT to make it! I know just the right birthday coming up to do it for too!

Speaking of birthdays, am I REALLY turning 28 in 2 weeks? Whoa!

I'm really OK with 28. I know its that much closer to 30, but this year is about new beginnings, and rebuilding myself, and I think that 28 will suit me just fine :)

I got an email asking about Oscar, he is doing well. He regrets to inform you all that he is back to sleeping in a crate most nights. His mean old Momma has decided that trying to share a twin sized bed with a very selfish doxie is just too hard on nights when she has to get up and go to work in the morning!

When we get our own place, I will have a queen bed again, and he will regain his bed time privileges.
